Apparently we were all having too much fun eating, drinking, storytelling, enjoying music, and making merry to take photos of the 2024 DWPC Holiday Party, but as our founders would have said, we definitely “drove dull care away.”

At the party, we mentioned the documentary Join Or Die, which makes the point that professional, social, and civic organizations are the bedrock of democracy. That same point is made in the book The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt and in the 2000 bestseller by Robert Putnam, Bowling Alone. Without local connections, citizens become cynical and fall into despair, which does seem to be a problem in 2024.
