Unknown Poets Contest

A Collaboration of Denver Woman’s Press Club, Colorado Alliance of Latino Mentors and Authors, and Colorado Humanities

We invite entries from Colorado poets 18 years or older who have never been paid in cash for their poems. This is a great opportunity for promising new poets!

Contest Details:

DEADLINE EXTENDED! Submissions accepted July 15 – August 31, 2024.

$15 fee per entry (limit three entries).

Winners will be announced in September at a celebration to be announced.

Cash Prizes:

First $150; Second $100; Third $75.

Comments:

All entrants will receive comments from judges who are professional writers and editors who are members of DWPC and CALMA (all entrants will remain anonymous to the judges).

Eligibility:

Contest is open to Colorado residents, 18 and over, who:

  • Have never been published with a byline and paid in cash or copies.
  • Poems:  40 lines, rhyming or free verse.
