DWPC member Joan Beesley’s screenplay 40 Shades of Green: The Junkman of Brooklyn recently won “Best Television Pilot/Adapted from Another Medium” at the Marina del Rey Film Festival and “Honorable Mention” at the New York Screenwriting Awards. She hopes to interest a production company in bringing it to the screen.
Forty Shades of Green is based on her book of the same name. It is the story of her Irish immigrant great-grandfather who created a scrap metal empire in Brooklyn and Philadelphia through early ties to Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall.
It was a DWPC presentation by screenwriter Trai Cartwright that inspired Joan to turn the story into a screenplay.
