The Denver Branch of the English-Speaking Union and the DWPC present George VI and Elizabeth: The Marriage That Saved the Monarchy, a lecture by Sally Bedell Smith.

Bestselling chronicler of the Royal Family, Sally Bedell Smith, gives an illustrated talk about the marriage of George VI and Elizabeth and the raising of their daughter Elizabeth II that she argues saved the monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth II granted Bedell Smith access to her parents’ letters and diaries. Smith explains how a loving and devoted marriage helped the king and queen meet the challenges of World War II and confirm the public’s faith in the monarchy. Bedell Smith explains how they formed relationships with Churchill and Roosevelt and inspired Britain with their courage and compassion.
