Denver Woman's Press Club

Do you know any wonderful (but unpublished) writers ready to take the important step of entering a contest? The Unknown Writers’ Contest, sponsored by the Denver Woman’s Press Club, awards cash prizes to winners and provides constructive comments to all entrants in three categories: nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.

All submissions are accepted online. The contest is open to Colorado residents, women and men, age 18 and over, whose work has never appeared with a paid byline. The submission deadline has been extended to midnight Feb. 23, and all entrants will be invited to a reception at the DPWC’s historic clubhouse on April 10.

Cash prizes will be awarded in each category: first place $125, second place $75, and third place $50. Entrants may submit one entry in each category with a 2,000-word limit for fiction and nonfiction and a 40-line limit for poetry. Entry fees are $25 for fiction and nonfiction and $15 for poetry. For complete rules and to enter online, go to
