“Business Writing: Safe Haven or Deep Water?” will be the topic of this season’s second salon on Sunday, Oct. 18. Denver Woman’s Press Club members Vanessa Yohe and Andrea Doray will discuss writing for businesses — how they began business writing, along with the benefits, drawbacks and risks attached to this career track. They will also offer suggestions for entering the current market. The salon will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the DWPC clubhouse.

Yohe started her career in Colorado daily newspapers, working for an investigative journalism firm before starting the media relations department for the local branch of a national nonprofit organization. She has spent the last seven years doing corporate communications, crisis communications and internal communications for Xcel Energy.

Doray is a consultant who brings her communication expertise to a variety of companies, from small businesses to global corporations, as well as with nonprofit agencies. She received her master’s degree in communication from the University of Northern Colorado, where she was honored with the institution’s Outstanding Young Alumna award. She began her career in advertising and marketing for advertising agencies, and then worked in corporate communications for both internal and customer audiences. She currently works as a communications consultant.

This event is open to the public. A donation of $5 is suggested and an RSVP to Corinnejb@aol.com is appreciated at any time before the event.
