Denver Woman's Press Club


Sandra Dallas, local historical fiction favorite and best-selling author will discuss her recent book, The Last Midwife, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on January 24 at the Denver Women’s Press Club, 1325 Logan St, Denver, CO 80203. Free parking is available in the lot north of the clubhouse.  This event is free and open to the public and guests are welcome and encouraged.

Set in Colorado in the 1880s, The Last Midwife is the story of Gracy Brookens, an aging midwife in Swandyke, Colo., who is accused of murdering a newborn baby. As she prepares for the trial, Gracy looks back over her life, which has been one of great joy but also of great sorrow.  She harbors secrets, some so deep that she cannot share them with her husband, and she must decide whether it’s worth revealing those secrets to prove her innocence.

New York Times best-selling author Sandra Dallas, the author of sixteen adult novels, two young reader novels, and ten nonfiction books, was dubbed “a quintessential American voice” by Jane Smiley, in Vogue Magazine. Sandra’s novels with their themes of loyalty, friendship, and human dignity have been translated into a dozen foreign languages and have been optioned for films.
