“LET THE WOMEN VOTE!” an Afternoon Tea with Denver Woman’s Press Club on
Saturday, March 14, 2020, 2 – 4 p.m. at the DWPC Clubhouse, 1325 Logan St., Denver 80203
$18 members, $20 non-members.
Registration/RSVP due by March 10.
Join us for a very special occasion honoring the yearlong national celebration of the 100th anniversary of the victory for women’s suffrage – passage of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. We will hear a special presentation by women’s historians Marcia Goldstein (DWPC Past President) and Gail Beaton (DWPC Archivist) on the history of Colorado’s pioneering suffrage movement and the key role that many DWPC founders played in winning women’s voting rights in our state in 1893 – 27 years before the national amendment was ratified by Congress.
We will also honor DWPC’s official 122nd birthday, when leading Colorado suffragist Minnie J. Reynolds founded the Denver Woman’s Press Club on March 18, 1898.
Dress in your finest vintage 1890s or 1900s attire if you wish, or just don the official suffrage colors of purple, gold, and white. Enjoy fun suffrage games, indulge in plenty of tasty tea-time treats, and raise your glass in a champagne toast to DWPC’s lasting legacy of championing women’s rights and writing!
