DWPC Scholarship Winners for 2024-2025

Each year, the DWPC bestows scholarships on deserving students who are pursuing their college education in writing, journalism, and/or communications.

This year’s awards go to four outstanding young women who are already making their mark as talented communicators.

Isabel Guzman – Metro State University, Journalism

Isabel is a senior at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she is Editor-in-Chief of the MSUD student newspaper, The Metropolitan. She receives the Frances Wayne Scholarship.

Stella Van Buskirk

Stella Van Buskirk recently graduated from Northridge High School in Greeley. She will be attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins to study English with an emphasis in creative writing. She receives the National Scholastic Gold Medalists – Poetry.

Aurelia Kembel-Rodriguez

Aurelia is a Latina author with roots in Spain and Cuba. She is a graduate of Fairview in Boulder and will be attending the University of Southern California on a Presidential Merit Scholarship. She receives the National Scholastic Gold Medalists – Poetry.

Havilah Barnett – CU Boulder, Creative Writing

Havilah Barnett is a poet and first-year MFA candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Colorado Boulder.” She receives the Ruth Murray Underhill Scholarship.
