Barbara Wright will read from and discuss her novel Anny in Love at the Denver Woman’s Press Club on November 19, 2025, at 6:00 pm.

Based on the life of Anne Thackeray, daughter of Vanity Fair author William Thackeray, the novel deals with Anny’s struggles as a female novelist in mid-century England, her complicated relationship with her sister, and her romance and marriage to a man 17 years her junior.

Much of the novel takes place at an artists’ colony on the Isle of Wight that included poet Alfred Tennyson, quirky bohemian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, painter George Frederic Watts, and author Lewis Carroll.
