Mara Purl and Virginia Harris, who used private libraries to research famous women, led a special event from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 12 at the DWPC clubhouse, 1325 Logan St.

During “Mining the Treasures of Private Libraries: How to find them, use them, or create one,” Purl and Harris discussed the fine points of research in a private library and relate their individual experiences researching Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, author of the novel “Frankenstein,” and Mary Baker Eddy, an author, poet, teacher, religious leader and founder of Christian Science.

Purl is a Denver Woman’s Press Club member and best-selling fiction author. Harris was instrumental in helping to establish the the Mary Baker Eddy library, a research library, museum and repository for Eddy’s papers.
