| Bio |
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin’s Journalism School, Heather has been a professional writer for more than 15 years, with experience as an advertising copywriter, public relations specialist and magazine editor. She launched her freelance writing business, Write On LLC, in 2004. Her work has appeared in a variety of regionally and nationally circulated magazines, including Boating, Door County Magazine, Great Lakes Angler, Indian Country Today, Islands, Lakeland Boating, Motor Boating, Sailing, Sea, ShowBoats International, Southern Boating, Sport Diver and Voyaging. Heather also works as a public relations consultant, with clients that have included a not-for-profit youth organization, a contemporary art center, a maritime museum, a humane society, a winery, several independent artists, a state-level Senate campaign and, most recently, a grassroots public awareness campaign based in Mexico’s Baja California Sur. Heather’s assignments have taken her all over the United States, and from Mexico and the Caribbean to Europe and the South Pacific. Along the way, she’s learned to sail, drive powerboats, scuba dive, sea kayak and set up backcountry campsites. She’s helped deliver a U.K. cruising boat across the North Channel to Dusseldorf, Germany; snorkeled with humpback whales in the Kingdom of Tonga; and camped on a desert island in the Sea of Cortez. Her husband, professional photographer Richard Steinberger, has been at her side for many of these adventures, and since their daughter Johanna was born in 2009, she frequently joins the couple as well. Recently, Heather and Richard embarked on their first collaborative book project: a fine-art coffeetable book that will showcase South Dakota’s remote and startlingly beautiful Cheyenne River reservation. Photos and text will be complete in fall 2012, with expected publication in 2013. To learn more, visit http://www.cheyenneriverfineart.com. |
