Commemorate Int’l Women’s Day
Thursday, March 7, 2019, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Join us for for an evening of conversation kicking off an exciting 2019 Salon Series, jointly sponsored by the Molly Brown House Museum and DWPC.  Here we will explore the origins of International Women’s Day (March 8th), which dates back to 1909 when thousands of American trade union women went on strike for better working conditions in New York’s garment industry.  This historical movement ties directly into the IWD 2019 campaign theme,  #BalanceforBetter, which is a call for communities everywhere to explore the importance of gender balance in building a better world.

We’ll convene at 5:30 at the historic Denver Woman’s Press Clubhouse at 1325 Logan Street, where we’ll enjoy refreshments and brief presentation on the inspiring working women’s movement in the early 1900s, nationally and in Denver.  Then we’ll “march” over one block to the Molly Brown House Museum at 1340 Pennsylvania Street where we’ll learn about Margaret Brown’s vision for women’s equality and continue the lively discussion.

Free and open to the public, with RSVP:  IWD Salon Registration
