Denver Woman's Press Club
DWPC 120 Year Birthday Celebration
Sunday, March 18, 2-4 P.M. at the clubhouse
According to our club archivist, Marcia Goldstein, the actual birth of the Denver Women’s Press Club in 1898 was March 18. While the date may be debatable, there is no question that the DWPC turns 120 this year. One-hundred-and twenty! Remarkable.
This calls for a proper celebration. Please mark your calendar for Sunday, March 18,
from 2:00-4:00p, and plan to join us for a very special birthday party at the clubhouse. There’ll be cake and champagne, of course. But in addition, prepare yourself for a little time travel. “Gay Nineties” period costume is encouraged – even if it’s just a hat.
Projected photographs of our founders and early members, along with images Denver in the 1890s, will provide context of the times. We may even sing along with popular tunes of the day.
Most importantly, we plan to invite some of our veteran members to share memories of the club and the clubhouse over the years. Did you know that at one time there were double doors that opened into the back garden? We are all storytellers, and our amazing fellow members – old and new — have some delightful and inspirational tales to tell. Join us as we learn, laugh, and marvel at the audacious and talented ladies to whom
we owe our genesis, our continuing evolution, and our organizational legacy.
Happy Birthday to Us!
