Angela Astle, our February speaker, is changing theater in Denver. A Denver native with NYC directing experience, she launched the Athena Project in 2012 to bring new work by women writers to the stage.

The project presents its annual arts festival March 3 to April 9 in 2017, including the world-premiere play, The Wave That Set the Fire by Ellen K. Graham and three workshop-level productions by women playwrights including Famous Last Words by DWPC member Katherine Millett. The festival will also present visual art, fashion, music, dance, and Pop Up Performances.

Astle runs a program of monthly workshops at The Edge Theatre, serves as Literary Manager at Aurora Fox Theatre, and is a member of the Rocky Mountain PBS Women and Girls Lead Advisory Council. Angela is a Denver native, an alumna of University of Colorado at Denver with a degree in Business and Theatre, and a proud member of the 2009 Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
